Roast & Grind began with the belief that Filipino coffee deserves to be celebrated, not just consumed. Sourced from distinct provinces across the archipelago, each variant carries its own character that is shaped by soil, elevation, and generations of farming. The brand was built to honor that richness, and to bring it forward with confidence.

The brief was not simply to make packaging look local. It was to create something that felt genuinely, proudly Filipino that can also stand on any shelf in the world.

Filipino Character

The wordmark is set in a sharp serif with precise cutouts drawn from the geometry of bamboo, a material embedded in Filipino daily life. This gives the wordmark Philippine character without being in your face. Earthy tones anchor the palette, grounding the brand in the landscape it comes from. Accents of blue, red, and yellow — drawn from the Philippine flag — are clear on each variant, connecting the product to our country and keeping it distinct on shelves.

Illustrations Woven from Filipino Detail

The illustration work draws from the coffee plant itself: lush, fragrant, and full of movement. Floral flourishes extend the world of the brand, creating a visual richness that rewards close attention. Woven through the design is the solihiya pattern, a traditional Filipino weave technique using rattan, recognized by its distinctive sunburst and radiating grid. This further adds texture and an added layer of Filipino culture.

Coffee as Geography

Roast & Grind is organized around the provinces of Batangas, Cavite, Baguio, Sultan Kudarat. Each province produces coffee with its own taste and strength, shaped by where and how it is grown. The packaging makes this geography legible and also turns a gift set into a journey across the Philippine coffee landscape.

A Worthy Pasalubong

Now available at Kultura and other food specialty retailers and pasalubong centers, it's an easy giftable introduction to Filipino coffee and all it has to offer.

Our work for Roast & Grind was also awarded "Best in Packaging Design" at the 2026 DTI National Trade Fair.
